The relative amount of heat generated from each product in this category is indicated by the flame icons on the right—with 1 flame correlating to the least amount of heat and 3 flames being most amount of heat.
The number of $ icons correlates to the relative price of each product, and distinguishes three main types of products by price: Basic, Mid-Range and Premium.
EPA-Certified appliances meet or exceed certain emissions and efficiency levels set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These standards are designed to reduce air pollution, and increase clean-burning performance and efficiency.
Wood-exempt appliances do not meet these EPA requirements, and have a broader range of heating efficiencies and particulate emissions.
