Outdoor Fireplaces That Stole the Show on HGTV's "Rock the Block"

In Season 5 of HGTV’s "Rock the Block," the four design teams demonstrated how fireplaces can transform outdoor spaces, each utilizing them in a unique way to enhance their area. Let's explore how these creative minds incorporated fireplaces into their designs.

Outdoor Linear Fireplaces

The Forum outdoor electric fireplace became the patio’s other standout feature, with Mitch noting, “One thing we know about fireplaces is they add appraised value.” Textural wood frames the Forum outdoor electric fireplace, highlighting the covered patio’s impressive proportions, while handcrafted wall hangings extend the exotic elegance from the home’s interior to its outdoor spaces.

This Lanai outdoor gas fireplace was a worthwhile investment for the Baeumlers. "We’re going to win because our balcony is this cozy extension of the living room," Sarah said. "We’ve got the fireplace, the beautiful stone, it’s just warming up the entire outdoor space." The addition of the fireplace has truly transformed their outdoor area into a welcoming retreat.

The Fire Bowl

The Outdoor GreatRoom Cove Edge 42" Gas Fire Pit Bowl is an ideal addition to any contemporary landscape, thanks to its unique edge design. The White Supercast™ finish enhances its allure, highlighting the stunning dancing flames. Made from organic materials, each fire pit bowl is unique, featuring natural color variations and casual pitting. Here’s how two designers chose to showcase this distinctive fire pit:

The fire bowl serves as the focal point of the outdoor space, aligning centrally with the hot tub. "The main key to this is keeping that sight line really beautiful looking out of the house," Keith explained. "So I think the way we went with the symmetry on this is really, really key." Twin lounges and occasional tables are positioned in the ankle-deep water on the pool's sun deck, while a fire bowl and teak Adirondack chairs align perfectly with the hot tub.

Leslie & Lyndsay

Designers Leslie and Lyndsay creatively used the fire bowl to enliven the space near the pool, enhancing the poolside ambiance with the soothing sound of flames. Regarding their signature feature’s silhouette, Leslie remarked, “Lyndsay, it’s like curve on curve on curve on curve!” Lyndsay agreed, adding, “If a pool could be sexy…” “We built it!” her sister finished. Their curvaceous hot tub, adorned in iridescent tile “like little seashells”, creates a waterfall flowing into the pool. Coral-colored loungers rest on the sun deck, while a pair of fire bowls flank the loungers under the grass-shaded palapa.
