Make sure your gas fireplace is ready with these tips.
The snow is falling and perhaps you’ve already fired up the Heat & Glo. Gas fireplaces require very little maintenance, but there are a few things you can do to make sure your gas fireplace is polished and ready for the season.
Make the Glass Sparkle
You’ll enjoy the fire more if the glass is clean. Here’s how to clean it.
- Make sure the gas valve is off and the glass is completely cool.
- Remove the front face the fireplace, and then carefully remove the glass assembly (follow instructions in owner’s manual). Lay them on a soft surface.
- Wipe down both sides of the glass with a soft cloth and a cleaner specified for fireplace glass, like Stove Bright or Rutland White Off. Never use abrasive cleaners or cloths. Scratching can cause the glass to shatter.
- When finished, put the glass and front back on the fireplace.
Clean up the Inside of the Fireplace
When the front glass is off (see above), remove any dirt or dust using a soft paint brush and a vacuum.
Inspect it Closely
Check the inside of your gas fireplace or stove for any damage, such as rust or flaking. Call a hearth dealer if you think you might need service or replacement parts.
Enjoy the Fire!
Put your feet up, fire up with the remote and enjoy the fire!
